Auburn is an iTunes U partner but we do not use it within the SOP because we use an existing product that provides real-time video conference as well as recording capabilities. Other schools on campus are podcasting and incorporating the iPhone and iPod touch in the classroom in other ways.
I am aware of other SOPs that are moving to Apple to support teaching and learning. Jeff Cain and I have an upcoming article in AJPE re: Web 2.0 / Health 2.0 applications in pharmacy education. I bet many of you have already adopted Web 2.0 and many may have developed apps for the iPhone.
Please share your experiences. This is an exciting time.

ReplyDeleteShenandoah University is moving to Apple laptops for our students in Fall 2009 for incoming students (with subsequent entering classes also given Apple laptops). We are also issuing our students IPod Touches and will be spending a good portion of the summer developing apps for the IPod Touches. We’ll have a lot more to share toward the end of summer.

We are in the planning stages for iPod Touches which we will distribute to our P3 students in the fall. We are also an iTunesU campus and exploring ways to leverage that with the distribution of the iPod Touches and the use of multimedia learning objects. Any words of wisdom or ‘lessons learned’ are much appreciated. Perhaps those of us pursing the Apple products route could find some time to meet at the AACP meeting on Boston or engage in some collaborative planning virtually.
